Spouse is a collective of multi-instrumentalists, lead by José Ayerve. The sound is a high-energy collaboration of hooky guitars, exploding drum parts, and signature raspy and emotive vocals, all glued together with melodic bass lines and surprising keyboard elements. The live band often consists of Ayerve, with JJ O'Connell, Mark Schwaber, Kevin O'Rourke, Ken Maiuri, Naomi Hamby, Dan Pollard, and Don McAulay, in various line-ups from duo to octet and beyond. Spouse also features the talents of Michael Merenda, Liz Bustamante, Robert Voyer, Gabe McElwain, and Alisha Goldblatt. On their most recent release, Spouse was joined by Erin McKeown, Marykate O'Neil, Philip Price, and Flora Reed. Long-time producers Mark Alan Miller and Adam Lasus continued to lend their ears and abilities on Relocation Tactics.
